Request privacy restrictions for a company or director/PSC profile
FormationData uses public company, officer, PSC, ownership, property, filing and business information to create company-led business intelligence tools.
Some of this information may relate to people acting in a business capacity, such as directors, PSCs, officers, shareholders or business owners.
We do not automatically delete company or director records that are based on official public sources, such as Companies House or other public registers. However, we do offer privacy restrictions where appropriate, especially where a person is concerned about search engine visibility, marketing use, service address exposure, inaccurate data, or home address issues.
You can use this form to request one or more privacy restrictions.
What addresses we display publicly
FormationData does not display director or PSC service addresses on public director/PSC profile pages, and does not display them on publicly indexed company pages.
On publicly indexed company pages, we only display the company's official registered office address where that address appears in official public sources such as Companies House.
A company registered office address is different from a director/PSC service address. However, we understand that in some cases a company registered office address may also be someone's home address if they have chosen to use, or previously used, their home address as the company's registered office. FormationData does not always know whether a registered office address is also someone's home address.
If you believe a registered office address shown on FormationData is your home address, you may need to update or apply to suppress the address at Companies House first. Once the public source updates, FormationData will update when we next refresh the relevant data.
What we do not usually remove
- company profiles based on official public register data;
- company registered office addresses shown in public sources;
- company filing history and accounts information;
- public officer, director or PSC appointment information;
- company ownership and control information;
- public property ownership or charge information linked to a company;
- public tender, contract, Gazette, insolvency, planning, licensing or compliance records.
We may continue to process this information where we have legitimate grounds to do so for company research, due diligence, public-register transparency, business intelligence, fraud prevention, compliance checks, market research and lawful B2B commercial opportunity discovery.
However, we review requests individually, especially where the request involves safety concerns, home address exposure, inaccurate data, mistaken identity, disproportionate impact, or a direct marketing objection.
Company records vs person-level restrictions
A director/PSC privacy restriction does not normally remove the companies connected to that person. For example, if you ask us to suppress your director service address from person-level exports, we may still display and export the company registered office address as part of the company record.
This is because a company registered office is public company information, while a director/PSC service address is personal data connected to a person acting in a business capacity.
If you object to FormationData using your personal data for direct marketing, we will stop using your personal data for FormationData's own direct marketing, and where possible we will also suppress your personal data from person-level marketing exports, enrichment exports or partner disclosures within our control. This does not mean we must delete public company records or company-level information where we have legitimate grounds to continue processing.
Removing or suppressing a home address at Companies House
If your home address appears on the Companies House register because it has been used as a service address, correspondence address or registered office, Companies House provides guidance on how to apply to remove or suppress it. If a home address is currently being used as the registered office of an active company, the registered office may need to be changed before applying to remove the address from historic public records.
